Initial Ideas
This is my initial idea for my thriller opening sequence. In this bubbleus i explain what my initial idea is and show the location, narrative, props and characters.
Plan
Upon deciding what our idea would be for our opening
sequence to our thriller film. I and Becky decided that we wanted to approach a
common issue so we decided that we would have a strong theme to do with
teenagers talking to people who they don’t know online. We decided that we
wanted to have three main characters who would be each very important to the
main storyline. Our main character Lilly would be the character who is talking
to some guy online. The opening sequence will start with the friends celebrating
Lilly’s birthday. Lilly will tell her friend Becky about the guy who she is
talking to. Becky is the only other person who knows what Lilly is up to. Lilly
decides not to tell Jake because she knows that he wouldn’t take it too well.
Lilly will then receive a message from this guy saying happy birthday. She
decides not to reply because she is with her friend. Her phone then pings again
and it’s the guy again this time he says he can see her. At this point Becky
has walked off to go home. Lilly is left alone. We then see the man abduct her
and Lilly drop her phone. I and Becky know that we want this as the main
storyline because we want to approach an issue like this. However we have many
ideas for what may happen next but we aren’t sure on what we want to see happen
to the characters. Therefore we have only fully decided on the first few bits.

Props For My Opening Sequence
I intend to use these props because they are conventionall to the charcaters that I want to use. For example the use of the school; bag is important due to the fact that we are setting our opening sequence in a school and our main characters attend a school. We want to make our characters realistic so by making sure that the props they have such as technology suits the time zone and represents the characters.
Group Planning Meeting
My team decided that I would take on the role of Director and Editor. Thus leaving Becky to take on the role of Producer and Camera operator.
Casting Profiles
It is important for us to cast appropiate actors to fill our roles so that our opening sequence looks believable. This is essential to mine and becky's piece because if we cast the wrong people then we won't be as successful with showing what we want to show in our opening sequence.

Location Ideas
It is important for us to have an idea for where we would intentially like to film our opening sequence so that we are able to work out key moments in our scene. In our opening sequence we would like to film at a school because our characters all go to a school, and our target audience would be able to relate to the setting because they would have been to school. The second place that we would like to film in would be the alleyway. We chose to film here because this is where Rikki will be abducted by her stalker. this is an essential scene because this scene needs to build anticipation for what will happen to Rikki? The other location we want to film in would be the bedroom of Josh and Beth, in this scene we want to show both characters in their bedroom on the phone to each other talking about the mysterious text they received from Rikki. The other scenes include outside the restaurant in which we plan to show Beth and Josh wait for Rikki and then realise that something is up.
Having a location idea sheet is essential to planning our production because in order to be able to map out where we want to film and be able to actually got to the locations and see whether they are actually suitable for our opening sequence.
Script
This is the script that myself and Becky are going to use for our opening sequence for our thriller film. We wanted to base our film around abductions and use an issue that is occuring in everyday life. Therefore we decided that by having our main characters all teenagers we would be able to appeal to that target audience straight away. Myself and Becky also did research into what we could try and use as our main theme and we both decided that the theme of abductions would work nicely.
Questions For Audience Feedback
These are the questions that I am wanting to ask some audience members when I go and try to recieve feedback from people.
I have decided that I would like to interview a few people
and ask them my questions. I feel that this will be the most suitable way for
me to receive the best feedback that I am able to with the questions I have chosen.
I was going to use Questionnaires but with filming people’s responses to the
questions, I am able to show people exactly what the audience members thought
of the idea and the conventions and concepts that I intend to use.
Shot List
This is the shot list that Becky and I made and shows the shots that we intended to use for our opening sequence.
In order for us to be able to film swiftly and quickly in the locations that we want to we need to map out where we will be filming from and what angles we want to use in order to get the best footage that we can achieve. Without having a shot list we will be unable to film the best that we can when we come to film our opening sequence. We need to have a set plan of where we will film and what angles we want to film so that the process of filming isn't as tedious and will be done effieciently.
Character Analysis
Character analysis is important for us to be able to fully
understand the character that we want to show in our project such as the
character of Rikki. In order to understand our character we have to think about the way that they will look, what they will wear and how their inner and outer presence should be represented. For example when looking at Rikki we looked at how we she would see herself and how other people would see her and what they would think of her. This has been an essential part in learning to understand the characters that we wan tot show in our opening sequence.
Permission Forms
In order for us to make sure that we have permission from
our actors to take part in our production is to make sure that we have their permission.
In order to do this we made a release form in which the actors/actresses had to
sign to say that it is okay for us to use their voice and them in our opening
sequence. We need to get our three main
characters to sign the form to say that we can use them and also if we have any
people in the background we need them to also sign a release form so that we
know that they are alright in being in our production. As well as this we also need to get a release
form so that we are able to use the locations we wish to film in. I e-mailed Mr
Parker asking if we could film on school grounds.
Permission form from Eloise who plays Rikki
Permission from Beth who plays Beth
Permission from Harry who plays Josh
Location permission from Manshead School Master
We gained permission from the actors and the location however we have not had a chance to upload the images yet.
